Protect an acre of rainforest

Donate to Rainforest Trust, which purchases and protects threatened land for as little as $100 an acre; 100% of gifts go directly to conservation action across 62 countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia-Pacific. Land is typically protected in partnership with local conservation groups who manage it going forward.

Our take

The low per-acre cost and 100% pass-through to conservation make this one of the more transparent land-protection options here — a good pick if you want to see roughly how far your money reaches. Partnering with local conservation groups to manage the land afterward also means protection doesn't end the moment the purchase is made.
