Buy an acre of habitat

For every £100 donated, World Land Trust's local conservation partners can protect one acre of threatened habitat; the Buy an Acre programme currently supports land purchases in Argentina, Kenya, South Africa and Uganda. Protected land is managed long-term by the local partner organisation rather than World Land Trust itself.

Our take

Unlike the broader tree-planting options nearby, this buys and protects existing habitat outright in specific countries — a good pick if permanent land protection matters more to you than new planting. Having local partner organisations manage the land long-term, rather than World Land Trust itself, also means protection is rooted in the country where the land actually sits.
